1. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA)
This warranty policy is subject to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and does not limit your rights under the CGA where applicable. If any part of this policy conflicts with the CGA, the CGA will prevail (except where you are not classified as a consumer).
Under the CGA, consumers are entitled to products that are of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and match their description.
A consumer is someone purchasing goods for personal, domestic, or household use. The CGA may not apply to goods purchased for resale or business use.
2. Fitness for Purpose
All lighters sold by kiwilighter.co.nz are intended only for their normal and lawful use.
Please choose carefully, as refunds or exchanges are not generally available for change-of-mind purchases.
3. Acceptable Quality
Please inspect your order as soon as possible after delivery.
If you believe your lighter is faulty, damaged, or not of acceptable quality, please notify us within 2 working days of discovering the issue.
When assessing claims, we may consider:
- Nature and price of the product
- Manufacturer information or packaging claims
- Information provided at time of purchase
- Any defects disclosed before purchase
Claims may be declined where products have been lost, damaged, tampered with, or misused after delivery.
4. Returns and Remedies
If a lighter is confirmed faulty or not of acceptable quality, we may choose to:
- Repair the lighter
- Replace the lighter
- Provide a refund
If the returned product is found to have no fault, or the issue is caused by misuse, the lighter may be returned to the customer at their expense.
5. Return Conditions
To request a return, customers must provide:
- Proof of purchase
- Order number
- Photos or video showing the issue
Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item is confirmed faulty.
Returns should be requested within 14 days of receiving the order.
6. Warranty Coverage
Our warranty covers:
- Manufacturing defects
- Ignition or spark mechanism faults
- Faulty refill valves
- Products damaged during transit
Most eligible lighters include up to 3 months warranty from the date of purchase.
7. Warranty Exclusions
Warranty does not cover:
- Incorrect gas refilling or overfilling
- Use of poor-quality butane gas
- Blocked jets due to lack of cleaning
- Accidental drops, cracks, or water damage
- Burn marks, scratches, or cosmetic wear
- Misuse, overheating, or tampering
- Normal wear and tear
- Empty gas after use
8. Warranty Validity
Warranty terms apply at the time of purchase and may be updated without notice. Please review the latest warranty policy before placing an order.
